Talking about death

I found a poem called “Darkness” in Space#3 by Danielle, a 5th grader in Missouri. I wonder why is she talking about death.

One line that stands out for me is. “I want to see the day light again”
I think this is weird because it sounds like your talking about death and that’s creepy. Why do you think about death?

Another line I liked a little is “this could be heaven” because you
must be a good kid thinking about heaven.
